i'm doing performance testing for some projects recently using borland silkperformer.i've never use this tool before.
Currently i maintainly focus on the scripting and execution stage. At beginning, i thought scripting is a easy case: record, parameterize, data correlation and etc, but as time goes on, my view changed, it's not a easy actually, you will encounter various problems at different project, but it's a good thing, you can learn something indeed when encountering problems and trying to resolve them.it's very importance, expecially for the beginner. what's experience, that is.
you must ensure the script. can be run smoonthly for a single user, and then for multiple users. if it runs successfully for a single user, but failed for multiple, you can check from below aspects, the error maybe caused by:
1) Data correlation.
2) Data file, ensure each vuser can get the correct record from the data file.
3) Application: application can not deal with concurrent user.
when multiple users can run successfully, you can begin your load test.
