How Parasoft SOAtest Differs from Load Testing
Products
Recently, Wayne Ariola
asked me, "What is the difference between load testing products and
SOAtest?"
Here's what I told
him:
In my opinion, Mercury
Load Runner and Rational are platforms. They are not products. That means every
time you want to perform. load testing, you need to go to a program, become a
programmer, and program the system to load test whatever it is that you want to
load test. It's complicated and difficult to do.
Customers should
understand that when they go the route of old generation load testing products
such as these, their QA department becomes its own programming shop—programming
scripts.
Parasoft Load Test and
SOAtest are second generation products that do not require such programming and
scripting tasks. There could be a need to configure or modify some systems, but
Load Test and SOAtest do not require a script. Instead, existing functional test
cases are used as scenarios for load testing. That's a huge
differentiation.
