This Friday afternoon, I attended a care
talk hosted by HR mgr. of EMC China COE, Linda Di(Her Blog).
Linda has a successful and colorful career
path, in 10 years growing from Admin Assistant to HR mgr of China R&D
center of a world-class company.
Others’ success story may not be copied but
can be learned. In the talk, Linda shared with us not only some stories but
also her feelings, her thoughts and her complains as well. Followings are those
impressed me most.
1)Influence leadership
People may have others working for him/her
using influence other than authority, as long as others believe you are doing
right thing and they can achieve their interests along. And of cause, in a
condition of others can accept your style.
When she talked about influence leadership,
I just recalled another note stressed by Robin Ren in his career talk a few months
ago, that is “build up your reputation”. I think both notes referring to one
point: you need to influence people around you, by showing your support, your
capability and personality.
2)Make something different
By making something different, you get a
chance to show up yourself, and likely give people/mgr an impression that you
are a dynamic, creative guy. But notice that this kind of difference should really
bring positive effect.
3)Make a success story every year.
Imagine what you can say when you happen to
get a chance to be asked by a very high level mgr about your wok in the
company.
No matter how hard you work in each of the
past 365 days, you just cannot tell him about that. All you need is an impressive
success story, and then introduce it in 1~2 minutes.
4)Manager’s responsibility is to make his people success
This is the key to a manager I believe,
though I’m not a manager yet.
