s Position includes writing contents for technical documentation such as: API and Board Development Kit Reference; Programming Guide; Hardware Reference Guide; Data Sheet; User Guide; Design Guide, Application Note; Product bulletin; Errata.
s Receive and check in assignments in close cooperation with Manager of CCP Technical Publications at first, grow into senior capability.
s Work with software engineers to verify application code examples.
s Work with Applications engineering to validate user experience and overall usability experience.
s Research and use source material including Engineering documentation, Marketing specifications, and developer notes.
s The primary users of the documentation are third-party developers creating VoIP applications using Mindspeed technology.
s Publishing is through PDF media and HTML-based web delivery.
Primary Responsibilities may include:
· Write reference documentation for C API, C Board Development Kit Reference, Linux and VxWorks Board Development Kit Reference, Data Sheet, Application Notes, and other user-oriented titles.
· Verify code examples or rewrite examples provided by engineers.
· Regularly interview development engineers and other subject matter experts.
· Follow quality standards and documentation guidelines.
· Deliver on-time per agreed schedule. Communicate with management and inter-team functions to report status and request priorities.
· Deliver error-free and technically accurate documentation that is consistent across subject areas.
· Contribute input to improve documentation team processes and tools.
Requirements:
· Experience documenting APIs, Board Development Kit Reference, and/or development environments.
· Experience documenting hardware features such as in a Data Sheet
· Ability to read (and possibly write) C#, C++, Linux, and so on.
· Excellent writing and communication skills.
Preferred Skills:
· Understanding of IP, wireless, VoIP, network concepts, technology, and operations.
· Understanding of telecommunications concepts and operations.
· Understanding of semiconductor industry standards and practices.
· Ability to interview developers and write content based on information they provide.
· Familiar with source code control tools such as ClearCase, SourceSafe, or CVS.
· Solid experience using Adobe FrameMaker, Webworks, MS Office suite, and Adobe Acrobat.
· Exposure to collaborative authoring environments a plus.
· Exposure to online authoring tools and DITA a plus.
· Experience using VISIO and other graphics editing tools, including Adobe Illustrator.
· Experience in software development a plus.
Education and/or Relevant Experience:
· B.S. in EE or CS or equivalent as a combination of work experience and education.
· 3+ years experience writing for a developer audience, or software developer with solid own-documenting mindset.
