Responsibilities:
  This is a Software Engineering position within the Emerson Embedded Computing – China Design Center, IPMI Firmware Engineering Team. In this position, you will be responsible for defining, developing, testing, delivering, documenting and maintaining IPMI Firmware for Emerson Embedded Computing products, supporting the next generation of Emerson Embedded Product roadmap. You will be responsible for authoring IPMI Firmware specifications, developing Firmware code, executing unit test and debugging/troubleshooting potential issues. You will be working closely with hardware design teams and be responsible for all software and firmware related issues during the planning, development, and validation stages of the program. Your responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

- Designing, developing, documenting and debugging IPMI firmware.
- Participating in key embedded computing product development and technical teams.
- Working with field application engineer (FAE) and services team to provide support for pre-sales/post-sales activities.
- Working with NPI team to support issues raised from product line
- Engaging various internal cross-team organizations, BIOS and/or IPMI firmware vendors

Requirements:

You must possess a minimum of a Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science and/or Engineering in a related field with more than three years of firmware and/or software development experience. Additional qualifications include:

- Strong C/C++ coding skills
- Working knowledge of IPMC vendors (Avocent, AMI or Aten etc.) and code structure, ability to define and identify the specific IPMC firmware requirements
- Excellent system-level debugging skills
- Working knowledge in the software engineering development process and project life cycle
- Ability to work well in a diverse team environment and with others in cross-site organizations
- Good English speaking and literacy
Good communication and documentation skills
- Any additional knowledge of the below items are highly expected: Linux or Windows device driver development experience, programming knowledge of embedded operating system such as Vxworks, ThreadX etc.
