SSH
SSHis a customized secure shell connection, which provides automatic data encryption. This is compatible with other SSH protocols.
rexec
rexec(remote execution) connection provides network security by requiring the remote host to recognize your host name, login name, password, and command. The connection is allowed after the host name is recognized; otherwise, the connection fails. The command is executed after the login name and password are accepted.
rlogin
rlogin (remote login) provides a remote connection through the command line interface. After connecting, the machine will authenticate by requesting username and password, and a program to run.
rsh
rsh(remote shell) provides remote connection with minimal security. It is recommended that rsh only be used on a trusted private network; data is not encrypted, including login name and password. This connection is not recommended for use on the public internet.
command
commandprovides the ability to run local applications which require X-Server support. Specify thetarget(program) to run andStart In(directory of where to run the program).
telnet
telnetprovides a remote connection through the command line interface. After connecting, the machine will authenticate by requesting username and password, and request a program to run.
XDMCP
XDMCP(X Display Manger Control Protocol) allows logging in to several remote sessions with one or multiple hosts. XDMCP is best used on trusted networks.
X-Win32 supports multiple monitors for XDMCP connections; this allows you to direct an XDMCP connection to another monitor. The maximum number of monitors is dependent on your Windows operating system and your workstation.
Three XDMCP modes are available,Query, Broadcast, andIndirect, which are described below.
